Elhelyezkedés és éghajlat
Magyarország egy nagy síkságon fekszik. A táj nagy része lapos, de vannak dombok és hegyek is.
Hungary lies on a large plain. Most of the landscape is flat, but there are also hills and mountains.
A négy évszak nagyon különböző. A nyár meleg és napos, a tél hideg, gyakran havazik.
The four seasons are very different. Summer is warm and sunny, winter is cold and it often snows.
Ősszel szép színesek az erdők, tavasszal pedig sok virág nyílik a parkokban.
In autumn the forests are beautifully colourful, and in spring many flowers bloom in the parks.
Budapest, a főváros
Budapest Magyarország legnagyobb és legszebb városa. Körülbelül kétmillió ember él ott.
Budapest is Hungary's largest and most beautiful city. About two million people live there.
A Duna a leghosszabb folyó Magyarországon. A Duna keresztülfolyik Budapesten, és két részre osztja a várost: Budára és Pestre.
The Danube is the longest river in Hungary. The Danube flows through Budapest and divides the city into two parts: Buda and Pest.
Buda dombos és zöld, Pest inkább lapos és modern. A két oldalt hidak kötik össze.
Buda is hilly and green, while Pest is flatter and more modern. Bridges connect the two sides.
A Parlament épülete a Duna partján áll. Este gyönyörűen kivilágítják.
The Parliament building stands on the bank of the Danube. In the evening it is beautifully lit up.
A Budai Vár és a Halászbástya híres turistalátványosságok. Innen szép kilátás nyílik a városra.
Buda Castle and the Fisherman's Bastion are famous tourist attractions. From there you have a beautiful view of the city.
Más nagy városok
Budapesten kívül más városok is fontosak. Debrecen a második legnagyobb város, Kelet-Magyarországon van.
Besides Budapest, other cities are important too. Debrecen is the second largest city, located in Eastern Hungary.
Szeged egy napos, szép város a Tisza folyó mellett. A szegedi diákok nagyon szeretik a városukat.
Szeged is a sunny, beautiful city by the Tisza river. Students in Szeged really love their city.
Pécs a déli részen van. A régi épületei és a barátságos hangulata miatt sok turista látogatja.
Pécs is in the southern part of the country. Many tourists visit it because of its old buildings and friendly atmosphere.
Győr egy kisebb, de nagyon szép város Nyugat-Magyarországon, közel Ausztriához.
Győr is a smaller but very beautiful city in Western Hungary, close to Austria.
A Balaton és a természet
A Balaton egy nagy tó Magyarországon. Ez a legnagyobb tó Közép-Európában.
Lake Balaton is a large lake in Hungary. It is the largest lake in Central Europe.
Nyáron sok turista jár a Balatonhoz. Az emberek úsznak, napoznak, és a strandokon pihennek.
In summer many tourists visit Lake Balaton. People swim, sunbathe, and relax on the beaches.
A Balaton víze nyáron elég meleg. A gyerekek nagyon szeretnek ott játszani.
In summer the water of Lake Balaton is quite warm. Children really love to play there.
Magyarországon sok nemzeti park is van. Az egyik leghíresebb a Hortobágy, ahol vadlovak és madarak élnek.
Hungary also has many national parks. One of the most famous is Hortobágy, where wild horses and birds live.
Termálfürdők
Magyarországon sok termálfürdő van. A magyarok szeretnek fürdőzni, mert a víz jó a testnek.
There are many thermal baths in Hungary. Hungarians like to bathe because the water is good for the body.
A Széchenyi fürdő Budapesten az egyik legnagyobb és legszebb fürdő Európában.
The Széchenyi Bath in Budapest is one of the largest and most beautiful baths in Europe.
Sok idős ember rendszeresen jár fürdőbe. Ott sakkoznak, beszélgetnek, és pihennek a meleg vízben.
Many elderly people go to the baths regularly. There they play chess, chat, and relax in the warm water.
Magyar konyha
A magyar konyha nagyon finom. A gulyásleves és a paprikás csirke híres magyar ételek.
Hungarian cuisine is very tasty. Goulash soup and paprika chicken are famous Hungarian dishes.
A magyarok sokszor használnak paprikát az ételekben. A piros paprika Magyarország egyik szimbóluma.
Hungarians often use paprika in their dishes. Red paprika is one of the symbols of Hungary.
A lecsó egy egyszerű, nyári étel paradicsomból és paprikából. Sok családban ez a kedvenc.
Lecsó is a simple summer dish made from tomatoes and peppers. It's the favourite in many families.
Desszertnek a magyarok szeretik a Dobos tortát és a somlói galuskát. Mindkettő nagyon édes.
For dessert, Hungarians like Dobos torte and Somló-style sponge dessert. Both are very sweet.
A pálinka egy erős magyar szeszes ital, gyümölcsből készül. Ünnepeken gyakran isznak pálinkát.
Pálinka is a strong Hungarian spirit made from fruit. People often drink pálinka at celebrations.
Ünnepek és hagyományok
Március 15. fontos nemzeti ünnep Magyarországon. Ezen a napon emlékeznek az 1848-as forradalomra.
March 15th is an important national holiday in Hungary. On this day people remember the 1848 revolution.
Augusztus 20. Magyarország államalapításának ünnepe. Este gyönyörű tűzijáték van Budapesten.
August 20th is the celebration of the founding of the Hungarian state. In the evening there is a beautiful fireworks display in Budapest.
Karácsonykor a magyar családok feldíszítik a fát, és finom vacsorát esznek együtt.
At Christmas, Hungarian families decorate the tree and eat a delicious dinner together.
Híres magyarok
Sok híres tudós és feltaláló magyar volt. Ők fontos dolgokat találtak fel, amiket ma is használunk.
Many famous scientists and inventors were Hungarian. They invented important things that we still use today.
Liszt Ferenc egy híres magyar zeneszerző volt. A zenéje ma is nagyon népszerű az egész világon.
Ferenc Liszt was a famous Hungarian composer. His music is still very popular all over the world today.
Sport
A magyarok szeretik a sportot. A vízilabda és az úszás nagyon népszerű Magyarországon.
Hungarians love sport. Water polo and swimming are very popular in Hungary.
A magyar vízilabda csapat sokszor nyert olimpiai aranyérmet. Az emberek büszkék a csapatra.
The Hungarian water polo team has often won Olympic gold medals. People are proud of the team.
A futball is nagyon népszerű Magyarországon. Sok gyerek focizik a suli után a barátaival.
Football is also very popular in Hungary. Many children play football with their friends after school.
Miért érdemes Magyarországra utazni?
Magyarország szép ország, sok látnivalóval. A régi épületek, a finom ételek és a barátságos emberek miatt sokan visszatérnek.
Hungary is a beautiful country with a lot to see. Because of the old buildings, tasty food, and friendly people, many visitors return.
Ha valaki magyarul tanul, jó ötlet ellátogatni Magyarországra, és gyakorolni a nyelvet a magyarokkal.
If someone is learning Hungarian, it's a good idea to visit Hungary and practise the language with Hungarians.
