Hungarian citizenship interview coaching

Walk into your interview knowing your own story, not a script.

I'm Péter — a native Hungarian speaker and language teacher based in the UK. I help applicants from Ancestry and Marriage pathways get fluent enough, and prepared enough, to speak naturally about their file.

Your teacher

A native speaker who understands both the language and the exam room.

Preparing for the interview isn't just about vocabulary — it's about psychology, memory and composure under a few minutes of pressure. That combination is exactly where I can help.

HU

Born and raised in Hungary

Hungarian is my mother tongue — including the regional pronunciation and place names that often trip up applicants reading them off official documents.

UK

Living in the UK since 2006

I know exactly what it's like to prepare a citizenship case from abroad, juggling official paperwork in one country and family history in another.

Ψ

Background in Cognitive Psychology

I bring an understanding of memory, recall and stress into every lesson — because the interview tests how well you can retrieve facts under pressure, not just what you know.

Focused on the simplified citizenship interview

I've already guided candidates through this exact process, building lessons directly around their real family files rather than generic textbook Hungarian.

What the simplified citizenship interview is actually like

It's usually more conversational than people expect. You don't need perfect Hungarian — but you do need the right facts, the right preparation, and the ability to talk naturally about your own file.

Pathway 01

By ancestry

You'll need to speak comfortably about your Hungarian ancestor's life — names, places and dates that match your submitted documents precisely.

Pathway 02

By marriage

The focus shifts toward your life together and your household in Hungarian — still grounded in the same standard of everyday, conversational language.

Family
  • Your ancestor's or spouse's life story
  • Names, dates and places, said aloud
  • How your family line connects to Hungary
Personal info
  • Everyday details about you and your life
  • Simple, natural conversation, not rehearsed
  • Comfort switching between topics
Paperwork
  • Recognising your own submitted forms
  • Spelling names and places correctly aloud
  • Everything must match the official record
Language testing
  • Advanced comprehension, not perfect grammar
  • Clear, simple responses under pressure
  • Recovering smoothly from small mistakes

✓ What you actually need

  • Advanced comprehension of spoken Hungarian
  • Simple, clear answers — not a memorised speech
  • Genuine comfort discussing your ancestry or marriage
  • Enough control to recover naturally from a mistake

✕ Mistakes that hurt applicants

  • Over-memorising, which sounds rehearsed and brittle
  • Guessing at dates, names or places instead of knowing them
  • Arriving under-prepared in spoken Hungarian
  • Thin familiarity with your own submitted file
  • Panicking after a small mistake, instead of staying composed
STEP 1
Know your story

Revisit your specific documents regularly. Fix the dates and the Hungarian pronunciation of places in your memory.

STEP 2
Review your forms

Be able to recognise and spell out loud, in Hungarian, exactly what's written on your application.

STEP 3
Practise out of order

Have someone shuffle the questions, so you're listening for meaning rather than following a memorised sequence.

STEP 4
Learn your safety phrases

A few simple, natural Hungarian phrases to keep the conversation moving smoothly if you get stuck.

REALITY
CHECK

The applicants who do best aren't the ones with the fewest grammar mistakes — they're the ones who sound grounded, prepared, and genuinely connected to their own paperwork.
